
Ministry of Justice (Bureau of Corrections and Rehabilitation) climaxes Middle level training for Prison superintendents, Supervisors and Probation Officers
Gbarnga-The Bureau of Corrections and Rehabilitation(BCR) in partnership with United Nations Development Program ( UNDP) has trained and certificated over forty-five (45) prison Superintendents, supervisors, probation Officers held at the Regional Hub in Gbarnga, Bong County.
The beneficiaries ( trainees ) were drawn from Gbarpolu, Lofa, Sinoe, Margibi, Bong, Nimba, Monsterrado, Grand Cape Mount, River Gee among others.
The Chief Trainer, Madam Florida K. Bakannah named, work Ethics in the Correctional environment ( Code of conduct), Role of Probation in the prison system, Prison Security, Treatment of Inmates and Human Rights in prison, Use of social media as prison personnel, BCR organizational plan, vision, mission objective, goals, strategies and core values as some of the disciplines offered.
Assistant Justice Minister for Corrections and Rehabilitation, Atty. Gabriel F. Ndupellar speaking at the close of the training, cautioned Correction officers to be innovative and put to practice, the skills being acquired.
He emphasized the rights of inmates and pre-trial detainees as one of the key focused areas of the training; stating that while serving their respective sentences, the rights of inmates must be respected in accordance with the Universal Declaration of human rights.
The Resident Judge of the 9th Judicial Circuit, His honor, Cllr. J. Boima Kontoe and UNDP's Justice and Security officer, Ms. Lisa Karlsson also made separate remarks and presented certificates to the beneficiaries...
The training was held from Monday, May 26- Friday, May 30, 2025 at the Ministry of Justice's Regional Hub in Gbarnga, Bong County.
